North Shore 2012 - Sunday

Most of the group was leaving Sunday morning, so the boys were anxious to going and spend a little time with everybody.  We actually got a pretty early start to the day.  Around 4 a.m. I woke up and saw that the kitchen light was on and wondered if Nate was sick (unfortunately, Erin came down with something Saturday evening).  When I walked in the kitchen Nate was standing over the garbage can.  "Oh, no!'  I said, assuming he was sick.  He nodded, "Yep, it's a mouse!"  Honestly, I was so relieved it was a mouse...probably one of the only times I'll say that.  After Mr. Mouse jumped out of the (tall) garbage can and made a mad dash for his home, I had a hard time falling asleep again -  and then Henry was up at 5:45, asking if he could go play on the rocks with Lincoln! 

At Pine Stuga, Lincoln showed us how his new "Iron Man Launcher" worked - the missile flew through the air and landed on the roof!  Andy managed to find a ladder to retrieve it.

Mimi Erin was still pretty sick, so she and Grandma stayed at the cabin while the rest of us went back to the Alpine Slide (which was well-received by two boys).

North Shore 2012 - Saturday Evening

After the Alpine Slide excitement, it was time to slow down a bit. 

Walter enjoyed a long walk/climb on the rocks with Mimi Erin.

Nate kicked back and caught up on his American Rifleman magazine reading.

Henry joined in on the walk.

I love this picture because you can see Mimi Erin has a good grip on the back of Henry's shirt to keep him from trying to jump across to the next set of rocks.  It was a big temptation for him all weekend - he made the big jump the next day and was successful.

I'm thinking we need to install some enormous boulders in our backyard because they couldn't

 get in enough climbing and jumping!

Shoes, shoes and more shoes (or at least some of them).  If our kids' shoes are in this picture somewhere - they're wet!  For some unknown reason, my usual, "I better pack 3 extra pairs of _____________ just in case ______________ happens( repeatedly)," was not working when I packed and I only brought one pair of shoes for each of the boys!  Basically, their shoes were wet the entire weekend - pools of water are made for jumping, right?   

While waiting for dinner, Henry and Lincoln started the usual what-kind-of-games-does-your-daddy/mommy-have-on-their-phone-conversation.  This, of course, progressed to asking kind older cousins if they could borrow their phones.

And 20 minutes later....still quietly waiting for dinner in the same exact spot!

Much to their disappointment, dinner was eventually ready and they had to put the phones away and eat - beef brisket is pretty good consolation...not to mention the desserts that followed.

North Shore 2012 - Saturday Afternoon

It was a beautiful day for our lunch on the rocks - brats, 'Smores and lots of other delicious stuff.

Before they could finish eating, Henry and Walter started out climbing and caught up with the bigger kids.  Throwing rocks and wading in the water was so much fun...

Henry thought about crying when he slipped into the water, but decided it was a good excuse to start swimming.

Then Lincoln joined in - oh, the fun!

A quick change into dry clothes and we were off to the Alpine Slide.  Although we went almost every year when we were kids, this was the first year we have taken our kids.  I had many nightmares about riding up on the ski lift with the boys but of course, they weren't afraid of falling and Henry couldn't understand why I wouldn't let go of his t-shirt!

Not very good pictures, but I had to mark the first trip up on the ski lift.  Walter was sleeping at this point.

Walter eventually woke up and decided that the Alpine Slide looked like something he had to try out. 

He liked it!

Henry may have a little teenager in him already - too cool to show what he really thought about the Alpine Slide...
