Disney World Trip: Day 1

On Sunday, the 10th, we packed up the van with lots of bags, plus the Mimis, Mama, Boppa, and the four of us to fly to Disney world for a week.

I'm using this as my journal, please forgive all the rambling and pictures.

"Disney! Disney! Disney!" Megan (Mimi #2) was in a very tight squeeze between the car seats of one very excited boy and another boy who was excited because his big brother was excited. Even if Megan hadn't been able to find her seat belt, we're pretty sure the car seats would have kept her in place in the event of an accident.
Walter slept almost the entire plane ride. Henry kept busy watching a movie. When we landed, he almost lost his patience. "I want to go to Disney world!" When I explained that we had to get our car and go to our condo first, he wasn't very happy. "Maybe we can go swimming when we get there," I said. Wrong thing to say! "I don't want to go swimming! I want to go to DISNEY WORLD!" Other than that we did okay.

Waiting for luggage and then on to the always extra-long wait for the rental car. After checking in, we ate dinner at a grill, did bath time and planned our first day at Animal Kingdom.

Little Boys

Drumming in the family room.

I walked into the family room to this scene last week...I still haven't figured out how the minds of little boys work.

Then I looked a little more closely and noticed this...I'm SO glad I found this before the syrup was opened!

Dinner

Last night, after 2 hours of chopping and cooking, the four of us finally sat down to dinner...when the boys would normally be getting into the bath for bedtime. But we all agreed it was worth the wait. Thanks to Jina, my friend and Korean language tutor, and Maangchi (www.maangchi.com) we tried some new recipes and enjoyed some "old" favorites as well. This was actually a practice run for a dinner we're doing with our small group in a few weeks...that's my excuse, anyway.

Henry and Walter love Japchae and couldn't wait to get their hands on it!

I made a bit of a mess...

Here it is: rice, a korean vegetable pancake with crab (Henry loved this new treat), japchae, and vegetable mandu (dumplings). This was one of our most quiet dinners in recent memory and Walter ate for 1 hour - seriously! He was still eating noodles and rice off his shirt when we took him out of his high chair!

Jesus Did It

Thanks to the daylight savings time switch a few weeks ago, Henry has all but abandoned his afternoon nap. On Tuesday, he snuck out of his room when he was supposed to be resting and squeezed a bunch of toothpaste into the bathroom sink and also broke my necklace.

That night I asked Henry, "Do you know what happened to my necklace? It looks like it's broken." No reply.

"Did you break my necklace, Henry?"

"No," he answered.

"Do you know who broke it?"

He looked at me, paused and said, "Jesus?"

Shoes and more

Walter's foster family had a pair of Thomas the Train shoes that they sent home with us in August. They are still a little big, but W loves to wear them around the house. One of the many reminders of how much he was and is loved by his Seoul family - and how grateful we are for them!

Pretty snazzy, huh?

Henry getting ready to make some faces for the camera.

For one fantastic week, we didn't have to wear our winter coats and the snow started to melt (and show up in our basement - which wasn't so fantastic)! The boys were excited to go for a few walks again...but mostly they enjoyed jumping in puddles. I was more than happy to do a little extra laundry!

Enjoying some cool suckers that Aunt E and Uncle G sent for them. Most kids prefer to eat snacks while under the piano, right?

Walter trying out our favorite cap - I think Boppa Bakkel would have been happy.

Hide and Seek

I spy...look very carefully. See anything?

Did you spot these sweet toes in the first picture?

"Surprise!" This was W's favorite place to hide today when we played Hide and Seek. Of course, his big brother caught on quickly when he saw the toes under the door...and then he joined in on the hiding, too.

A Good Nap

Walter was completely exhausted when we got home last Sunday after spending the morning at church and then meeting with our small group for lunch and Bible study. He fell asleep in the car, woke up briefly when we got home, but couldn't keep his eyes open when I put him on the couch to take off his coat and shoes...
