Spring Fling

On May 2nd, Henry's class presented their "Spring Fling" production for parents and grandparents.  They sang  and shared some of the things they learned over the past year.  It was a little different to be viewing this as a parent instead of as a teacher - a little more emotional!  We are grateful that Henry has grown so much this year.

Getting in a quick wave to his fam...

This is terrible, but I can't remember what song they were singing here.

Each student displayed something they used in the classroom, while Mrs. V shared how it mirrored what they had learned about God.  Henry had glue - it's important to stick to the Lord.

An alphabet poem.

I really enjoyed hearing the number that Henry has been singing around the house for months.  I had been wondering where he learned it.  It was about a turtle who eats a bar of soap in the bathtub.  He didn't bother with the actions, but it was still very sweet.

With Mrs. V

Henry and Walter with their grandparents.

Having  a good time playing with friends.

The class decorated cookies for their grandparents - I wonder how many grandparents actually got to eat the cookies...Henry and Walter ate every single one of the cookies he decorated!

Last Day of BSF (May 2012)

We finished another amazing year of BSF in May.  I am so, so thankful for the loving and dedicated teachers Henry and Walter had this year!
Henry with his teachers, Miss Cindy and Miss Lexi
(and a classmate - who must be a mother's dream when it comes to family pictures since he just jumped right in when he heard there was a picture being taken)

Fashion

Over the last few weeks, Henry has enjoyed picking out his own clothes and getting dressed himself. Looks like he may need to start his own fashion blog - look out Clinton Kelly!
On this morning we heard him turn on the light in his room and open his dresser and closet door before he emerged with a big smile on his face - proud of his work. Seems to us that, like his mom, comfortable pants make an outfit. Here he's wearing camo fleece, comfy pants with a striped fleece shirt.

Last week, after breakfast he told me he was going upstairs to get dressed and returned wearing these brown fleece comfy pants with a nice sweater for church. Yes, he did wear it to the park!
And a little modeling...
Walter's fashion must are Thomas the train shirts!

Pizza and Helmet Silliness

Our fridge stopped working over a week ago, so we have been living out of a mini fridge since then...which means daily trips to the grocery store. Instead of meals off the weekly menu, at around 5 p.m. we start asking, "Hmmm, what should we have tonight?" Last night we decided on homemade pizza - one of Nate's specialties. Henry and Walter couldn't wait to help with the crust and adding (or eating) the toppings and cheese.

Henry is getting ready to graduate to a bike with pedals so we picked up a helmet today. Henry doesn't want to wear it, but Walter does which brought on a bought of silliness:

Making faces...
(Henry had a little run-in with a rather large tree at the park this week. He got pretty scratched up, but was good-natured about it. He...okay, I admit it...We couldn't help but chuckle about it as he sat on the tree roots, gingerly rubbing the left side of his face. As you can see, his wounds are healing.)

And a smile

With that, I am officially caught up on pictures!

All Creatures Great and Small

And we're talking small! Can you see it? Yep, that little bug. Walter noticed it crawling on the plastic train tracks. I mentioned that it must have been injured because it was having a hard time moving...

...Walter jumped up, ran to the fridge, and returned with his antibiotic. He wanted to give some to the beetle to help it get better. (You may have noticed the lack of pants - he was in the midst of being potty trained. Yeah!)

God has given him helper's heart.

Deep Thoughts

This was the scene one morning last week...Nate found Henry sitting inside the storage ottoman, gazing quietly out the window.

Fort

As soon as Nate walks in the door after work, Henry and Walter can hardly wait to start playing with Dad. "Come on, Dad, let's tack (that's what Henry calls tackling/wrestling)!" It took a little while for all of us to recover after Walter was sick (maybe it's taken more time for Nate and I to recover!), but Nate came up with lots of fun things for the boys to do that were a little more low-key. They loved working on this fort together and hanging out inside...if only Walter would leave the lamp alone so the "roof" wouldn't cave in all the time!
