North Shore 2011

Visiting the North Shore of Lake Superior each summer with my aunts, uncles, cousins (and now another set of kids) is a family tradition on my dad's side. It's fun to see Henry and Walter having such a great time with their cousins and the rest of the family. This year, we left on Friday morning and stopped at the train museum in Duluth for a few hours.

Pulling levers in the steam engine cab.

Playing with the train set might have been Henry's favorite part of the museum.

Almost every year, we would stop at this DQ with my grandma on the way to the North Shore. Now the boys are enjoying the tradition with Mama, Boppa, and the Mimis. And of course you have to take your picture with the Bear while you're there.

Henry and Walter actually sat for a few moments, so we got a rare pic of all the guys together.

A few minutes with Dad.

Pancake Breakfast: Singing with Uncle Dave - he requested "Holy, Holy, Holy" and "Ring of Fire"

After breakfast, we went for a walk (guess this looks more like a run) on the rocks.

The boys found cousin L and they had lots of fun playing with cars on the rocks.

Next, we headed to the Temperance River for a little walk. Here's W hitching a ride.

Henry and Cousin L checking out the river from a bridge.

Walter and Mimi doing the same

Hmm...looks sort of familiar.

I have to admit, one of the things that I think is sweet is when my boys have bed head or hat hair. This is pretty good hat hair!

We made it to the part of the river where the kids love to wade, climb and throw rocks.

Car Talk

"H Man"

Testing the water

This rock was just a bit too big for Miss S to throw - but you have to at least give it a shot, right?

Let the rock throwing begin.

Cousins chatting

A little hug from Dad

And back to throwing rocks

Lunch by the lake.

Henry, Walter, and L playing with cars together. From what I overheard, there were a lot of crashes and hospital visits.

After lunch and naps, we visited the park to give the kids some more time to run around. Henry loved jumping.

Walter was curious about this caterpillar you can climb on...

Cousin S trying out the jumping blocks.

After dinner, the kids had fun chasing each other, playing frisbee and other games, and running around...it was busy!

Singing...

A few pictures that you WON'T see on our Christmas card this year!

The boys love Uncle Scott - he keeps them entertained and laughing.

Making funny faces with Uncle Scott

Beautiful full moon on our last night

It was really humid on the day we drove home so we stopped at the lake to cool down and visit Grandpa and Grandma A. By the time we made it home we had 2 tired kiddos.

Pirates & Stickers

Pirates: They love wearing the pirate hat the Mimi gave them.

Stickers: It's more fun to put stickers on yourself than on paper.
